A move to new premises signals the next exciting phase in Ambrose Hire’s journey

Ambrose Hire has been in business for nearly four decades now – and from our humble beginnings, we’ve gradually expanded our services to provide operated and non-operated plant machinery and equipment to clients throughout the North West and beyond.

When we first opened the doors of our original business premises in Leyland, near Preston, we had a much smaller fleet – but we started out with the same high standards that we continue to offer today, ensuring that our customers receive only the very best plant and the very best customer service. This has held us in good stead, helping us to build the great reputation that we’re so well known for.

Gathering pace in the plant industry

Right from the start we decided that quality management had to be the central focus of our service, so as we slowly built our fleet, we also worked hard to attain our ISO 9001 Quality Assurance accreditation. This gives our customers total peace of mind in our commitment to providing quality at every turn, from fully operational and well serviced equipment, to straightforward advice and site-based engineering back-up.


While we continued to build our fleet and range of services, we also became proud members of the Construction Plant Hire Association (CPA), and invested heavily in both our people and our products – nurturing a loyal and experienced workforce, and a customer base that now spans way beyond Lancashire!

Since 1979 we’ve extended our geographical supply areas quite substantially, now offering our exceptional plant hire services to businesses across Cumbria, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Manchester, Cheshire, Staffordshire and North Wales.

With an ever-growing client base and plant fleet, we’re continually reviewing and updating our systems, technology and processes to ensure we remain competitive and reliable – so the close team of long-serving staff here at Ambrose Hire have been working on a long-term plan that will help us to meet our clients’ needs.


With this in mind, we’re delighted to announce our recent move into our brand new, built-for-purpose operating centre in Bamber Bridge – just 5 miles away in distance, but a world away when it comes to the exciting opportunities it presents for further development!
